U4GM: Diablo 4 Death's Pavane Crafting Options

Death's Pavane is a serious upgrade for Rogues who live inside Dance of Knives. Before you start chasing it, it's worth understanding why it matters: enemies you hit can drop knives, and collecting them raises Dance of Knives damage by as much as 30% for a brief window, with three stacks available. That turns a fast-moving Rogue into something far more consistent in longer fights. Players checking other D4 items for a Dance of Knives setup should put these Unique pants near the top of the list.

Start with Echo of Varshan

Your best shot comes from Echo of Varshan, an Initiate Lair Boss on the current boss ladder. The fight itself isn't usually the part that slows people down. The important bit happens after he falls. Varshan leaves a Hoard chest, and opening it costs one Lair Key. That chest draws from his focused reward pool, where Death's Pavane can appear. It's a cleaner route than hoping for a world drop, especially if you can clear the encounter quickly with your current Rogue build.

Keep Lair Keys flowing

War Plans are what make repeated Varshan runs feel practical rather than tedious. You can line up as many as five activities, then work through them without constantly bouncing between distant map markers. Nightmare Dungeons, Helltides, and Infernal Hordes all fit nicely here. As the plan develops through its upgrade paths, Lair Keys begin to pile up. A simple session might look like this.

Set activities you already clear fast.
Run the full plan instead of stopping after one reward.
Save the keys for several Varshan chests in one stretch.

Use Malignant Hearts when keys are short

There's another worthwhile route in Temis. Once the Lord of Hatred campaign is complete, the Horadric Cube gives you access to recipes that can turn spare boss materials into useful rolls. Varshan's associated trophies are Malignant Hearts. Put five of them into the Cube's Amalgamation recipe, and you receive an item from Varshan's reward pool. It won't replace boss runs if you're swimming in keys, but it's great when your stash has collected Hearts and you'd rather spend them than let them sit there.

Make spare Obols do some work

The Cube can also upgrade ordinary white pants into a Unique, so the Purveyor of Curiosities becomes part of the hunt. Spend excess Obols on white pants, keep a small stack of bases, then try the appropriate Cube recipe. This option has a much wider pool of possible Unique pants, so don't expect quick results. Still, it gives otherwise spare currency a purpose. Mix Varshan chests, War Plans, and Cube crafting, and buy Diablo IV Items can remain a useful option while you keep pushing toward the drop you want.
